Digital swap contracts — legally binding handoffs explained
A handoff needs a record
When one carrier hands a mission to another, responsibility moves with it — for the container, the cargo, the deadline and the liability. A handshake is not enough. The handoff needs a clear, time-stamped record both sides agree to.
How digital swap contracts work
Every swap accepted on PortChief generates a digital contract: who handed off what, to whom, when, on what terms, and who carries the risk from that moment. Both parties confirm in-app, and the record is stored against the mission.
Why it protects you
If a dispute arises — a late box, a damaged container, a missed appointment — the contract is the single source of truth. No he-said-she-said, no lost emails. Faster handoffs, with the paperwork built in.
